GEODELTA OE specializes in Renewable Energy Sources, providing integrated road design and siting studies for wind farms, photovoltaic stations, and energy storage stations, as well as studies for all types of technical projects and the creation of digital base maps for engineering studies.
With modern equipment, specialized software, and many years of experience, we ensure accuracy, efficiency, and high quality in every study, from siting to construction support.
Digital Base Map Creation
Digital Base Map Creation
We create digital base maps (3D models, DEM, DTM, DSM, 3D face triangles, point clouds, and orthophoto maps):
For preliminary studies, from various sources, such as:
From the digitization of Hellenic Military Geographical Service maps at scales of 1:5,000 and 1:50,000.
From freely available or commercially acquired satellite data.
For detailed design studies from:
From ground surveying using geodetic GPS or a total station.
From low-altitude flights using survey-grade drones equipped with high-resolution cameras, with the data processed through photogrammetry software for orthophoto map production, or using a LiDAR sensor (DJI L2) for DEM and DSM generation.
PHOTOGRAMMETRY
GEODELTA, utilizing cutting-edge technologies in an effort to reduce costs and deliver studies faster, has established and operates a dedicated Photogrammetry Department for the creation of orthophoto maps and digital terrain models.
Using modern RTK — or PPK — survey methods in combination with the classic and consistently reliable method of ground control points, GEODELTA delivers truly accurate results, with a guaranteed elevation deviation of just a few centimeters.
Between 2016 and 2025, we carried out surveys covering more than 300,000 stremmas for dozens of wind farm and other projects.
The equipment we use — starting in 2016 with the Phantom P4 Pro — includes the latest DJI Matrice 4E RTK models with a 20 MP camera, as well as the flagship surveying drone, the DJI Matrice 400, equipped with the P1 50 MP camera.
Data processing is carried out using SimActive’s Correlator3D software or DJI Terra.
The produced deliverables include georeferenced orthophoto maps in GeoTIFF, JPG, and ECW formats, as well as digital 3D models in DSM, DEM, DTM, point cloud, and 3D face triangle formats.
DIGITAL ELEVATION MAPPING WITH LiDAR
The major challenge in measuring natural ground elevations is vegetation, both in photogrammetry and in ground-based GPS surveys, due to limited access or poor satellite reception in areas with dense forest vegetation. LiDAR surveying provides the solution to this challenge, as its beam penetrates the vegetation and reaches the ground, creating a dense point cloud.
